About The Position

The Senior Action Center Program Assistant assists the SAC Director with planning a varied program of activities designed to enhance the lives of senior citizens in the community. This position is part-time, scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday, and reports directly to the Senior Action Center Director. The role offers a salary of $12.00 per hour and is classified as non-exempt.

Requirements

• Knowledgeable about senior needs and community resources for seniors.
• Shows a great deal of patience with an aging and often ailing population.
• Able to balance the demands for encouraging senior independence and senior interaction.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment but also able to work independently.
• Must meet Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
• Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for senior center programming, including the lunch program, recreational and educational activities, and spiritual development opportunities for seniors.
• Supervising and evaluating SAC employees and volunteers.
• Arranging day and extended trips for seniors.
• Maintaining SAC membership rolls.
• Accurately counting and reporting all SAC membership and attendance statistics for governmental and Salvation Army statistical systems.
• Performing related duties as assigned.
