About The Position

LMI is seeking a Senior Acquisition Team Lead to provide leadership and oversight for acquisition support within a large, complex Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program, focusing on mission-critical activities. This role involves leading and mentoring a team of contractor acquisition and program management professionals, ensuring the high-quality delivery of acquisition products and services. The Team Lead will be responsible for driving innovation and process improvements, while collaborating closely with program managers, contracting officials, and other stakeholders. A strong customer-service mindset, deep acquisition expertise, and proactive engagement capabilities are essential for this position. The role requires an on-site presence in Washington, DC, for 1-2 days per week. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in federal acquisition support, including hands-on experience across the acquisition lifecycle (DoD or DHS).
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of 5-10 people.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), acquisition frameworks, processes, and governance (DoD or DHS).
  • Demonstrated success forming strong working relationships with government program managers and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer-engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, foster collaboration, and build a high-performing team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues, advise senior stakeholders, and drive results in complex acquisition environments.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications.
  • An active U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (BI) is required.
  • U.S. citizenship (only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination and security clearance).

Nice To Haves

  • DHS acquisition experience.
  • DAWIA/DACM certification, FAC-C/FAC-P/PM, or equivalent.
  • PMP or other program management certification.
  • Master’s degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Government PM’s primary POC for individual programs.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise contractor acquisition and program management staff across a program.
  • Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the program daily tasks, program deliverables, and program activities, including planning and execution, logistics, and staffing requirements where applicable.
  • Elevates risks, issues, and opportunities when appropriate.
  • Respond to internal and external taskers/questions and inquiries on assigned tasks, projects and business analysis.
  • Proactively resolves risks and issues that impact the team’s ability to support USBP’s mission and goals.
  • Leads the team to develop program deliverables and work products for quality accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client and LMI and PMOD customer quality standards.
  • Collaborates with adjacent teams.
  • Leads allocated LMI resources to accomplish team priorities and monitor performance and conduct of LMI program staff.
  • Continually guides staff and reinforces desired behaviors.
  • Creates a strong, high performing team environment.
  • Provide acquisition and contracting subject matter expertise and advisory support regarding DHS acquisition practices and lifecycle governance including: Contract awards and management, Source selection support, Cost and Pricing Support, Contract Administration Support.
  • Oversee the development and review of acquisition presentations and documentation (e.g., acquisition strategies, market research, SOWs/PWSs, IGCEs, evaluation criteria).
  • Work with US Border Patrol to establish and monitor the program’s execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance acquisition execution, documentation quality, and efficiency.
  • Introduce innovative tools, approaches, and acquisition techniques aligned with DHS mission needs and federal procurement regulations.
  • Resolve issues, remove roadblocks, and support continuous improvement across the program.
