NOW CFO is partnering with Redwood Community Action Agency (RCAA) to identify a skilled, mission-driven Senior Accounting Manager to join their team in Eureka, CA. This is a hands-on leadership role within a long-standing nonprofit organization dedicated to programs that support housing, energy assistance, youth services, food security, and environmental stewardship throughout Humboldt County. Founded in 1980, RCAAs mission is to empower individuals and strengthen communities through sustainable, people-centered initiatives. The Senior Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening internal processes, and supporting the organizations ongoing impact across the region.

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and provide direct supervision to accounting staff.
  • Maintain the general ledger (GL) and ensure timely, accurate month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver financial presentations to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Support job costing and grant tracking processes with the understanding that job costing training will be provided ; must be willing and able to learn job costing methodologies.
  • Assist with audit preparation and act as the primary liaison for external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state requirements, and grant funding standards.
  • Support budget development, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
  • Strengthen internal controls and maintain consistent financial reporting practices across departments.
  • Accounting experience within nonprofit , construction , or other multi-funding-source environments.
  • Experience leading or supporting external audit preparation.
  • Strong background in grant accounting; willingness and ability to learn job costing if not already proficient.
  • Proficiency with MIP (Abila) or comparable ERP/accounting systems.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (B.A./B.S. required).
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience within finance or accounting.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and Single Audit requirements.
  • Experience preparing financial presentations for executive leadership or boards.
  • Familiarity with fund accounting, cost allocation methods, and multi-program financial structures.
  • Understanding of nonprofit operations, community services, and government grant reporting.
