About The Position

As the Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll serve as a key leader within our Finance Department, overseeing monthly close, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting for multiple nonprofit association clients. In this role, you’ll help ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while communicating financial results to executive leadership and Boards of Directors. This position plays a critical role in supporting strong client service and serves as a trusted partner to the CFO and Controller of Client Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA license preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting.
  • Demonstrated ownership of month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience communicating financial information to Boards, executives, or audit partners.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Great Plains and NetForum preferred.
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to be proactive, curious, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior.
  • Remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Excellent time-management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work accurately with close attention to detail.

  • Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends, travel to multiple work sites, and occasional out-of-town travel.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly close process for assigned nonprofit clients This entails monthly general ledger review, including actual vs. budget comparisons, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and providing both oral and written financial analysis on assigned projects.

  • Prepare and review GAAP-compliant nonprofit financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Conduct comprehensive general ledger review including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare board-ready financial packages and present financial results to Boards and Finance Committees.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert on nonprofit accounting standards and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate annual audits and support tax filings, including Form 990 preparation support.
  • Review work performed by accounting staff and provide coaching, guidance, and technical oversight.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency and internal controls.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller or CFO.
