About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the Manager of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the Corporate GL accounting team, which includes the Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant. This position will support the continued growth of the organization by leading the month-end close process, addressing technical accounting matters (including lease accounting), ensuring compliance with GAAP, and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate has a public accounting/private company mix of experience, is comfortable in a hands-on leadership role, and thrives on problem solving rather than simply escalating issues. This individual will be a key partner to the Director of Accounting and VP of Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant required.
  • Prior management experience, ideally with direct oversight of staff.
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research, analyze, and document positions under GAAP.

  • Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Corporate GL accounting team, providing leadership, mentoring and coaching.
  • Responsible for hiring and training for direct reports.â Conduct interviews, complete job reviews, set and review professional development goals for direct reports; Audit performance quality and build training plans for direct reports.â Ensure staff are motivated and productive.
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Research and apply technical accounting guidance, with generally accepted accounting principles; particularly related to leases and other complex areas.
  • Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules and serving as a point of contact with external auditors.
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues independently, proposing solutions to leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate with Operations, FP&A, and IT to support financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains financial policies and procedures and financial controls to assure compliance with company, state, and federal standards.
  • Works with the company financial team to create internal controls and policies; follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and supports department by suggesting and aiding with ideas and implementation of process or system improvements.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls.
  • Mentor, coach other accounting team members as assigned.
  • Complete Accounting Director duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
