About The Position

Cargomatic is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to own the financial close process and deliver accurate, timely reporting in accordance with US GAAP. In this high-impact role, you'll partner closely with cross-functional leaders, manage a shared services team, and serve as a key resource for audit and compliance. This is a critical position for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical accounting rigor and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 842 (leases)
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and supporting audited financial statements
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Background in logistics, transportation, or tech-enabled industries
  • Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
  • Familiarity with PCAOB audit standards or SEC reporting
  • Track record of leading process improvement or automation initiative

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle, ensuring completion within established timelines
  • Prepare and review key journal entries, accruals, and complex accounting transactions
  • Supervise and review work performed by the shared service center, providing guidance and quality control
  • Draft financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in compliance with US GAAP
  • Drive continuous improvements to close timelines and reporting accuracy
  • Own the review and sign-off of balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accruals across all assigned business areas
  • Maintain and update lease accounting schedules in accordance with ASC 842
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures for the assigned area of responsibility
  • Ensure internal controls are operating effectively and flag risks proactively
  • Coordinate and support external audit requests, serving as a primary point of contact for financial statement audit inquiries
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning
  • Partner with FP&A, operations, and legal teams to ensure financial data accuracy and alignment
  • Support special projects including system implementations, process automation, and M&A-related diligence as needed
