About the position

The Senior Accounting Manager will assist the Chief Financial Officer and Controller in executing all functions of the accounting department. This is a full-time exempt position that requires flexible hours, generally coinciding with the usual business workday.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all functions of accounting department and report to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
  • Develop a procedure manual for all programs and keep it updated.
  • Maintain Accounting Systems including capturing data for funding source reporting and for year end and annual audits.
  • Provide for an adequate system of internal controls and monitor the same.
  • Conduct statistical studies.
  • Assist Chief Financial Officer and Controller with internal audits and budgeting process.
  • Review cash receipts and allocation to programs.
  • Review all monthly and quarterly billings for various programs.
  • Prepare and submit timely budgets and expenditure reports to funding sources.
  • Analyze monthly payroll and benefit expenses.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly line item expenditures of all programs in comparison to their budgets.
  • Submit multiple worksite report.
  • Assist in preparing for the annual audits.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, performance reviews, and on-going supervision of all paid and volunteer staff.
  • Implement training for new hires and identify training opportunities for current staff.
  • Responsible for budget development, implementation, management and modification.
  • Maintain funding streams and cultivate new funding sources.
  • Support the organization fundraising efforts and the Caritas Gala.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain on-going communications and a positive working relationship with the community at large, funding sources, and oversight agencies.
  • Submit required routine and special reports and statistics that are complete and submitted on time.
  • Attend regularly scheduled and p.r.n. meetings, being prompt and prepared.
  • Serve as a good steward of the organization facilities and resources.
  • Conduct self in accordance with the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the organization Code of Ethics and Values Statements.
  • Maintain professional credentials and certifications.
  • Engage in on-going professional development.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective and efficient operation of the organization.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting.
  • A minimum of three years experience in various accounting positions.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel including V-Look up and Pivot Table.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
