About The Position

This position manages the external reporting function, including all reporting to the Securities Exchange Commission (“SEC”), as well as general accounting functions. Oversees general ledger accounts and ensures accuracy of financial statements. Ensures accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and the company’s policies and procedures and internal controls. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Note: (For NJ candidates) This role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until the new headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will be offered the ability to work in our Branchville, N.J. location during this interim period.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SAP, general ledger accounting software packages, and external reporting requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, strong organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS suite including Excel and Word
  • Bachelor’s degree, in accounting preferred
  • Eight to ten years of accounting experience
  • Experience supervising/managing others
  • CPA required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, preparation, review and overall coordination of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K).
  • Ensure appropriate delegation of work and manage the accounting staff.
  • Manage daily accounting and reporting activities including general accounting, property accounting, expense accounting.
  • Implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage account reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial analyses and financial reports and statistics for management.
  • Manage cost accounting.
  • Review financial statements.
  • Ensure financial accountability and minimize financial risk for the organization.
  • Ensure company compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and governmental regulations. Assist as needed on SOX 404 documentation and controls.
  • Streamline accounting operations. Implement and maintain procedures to improve workflow efficiencies.
