Growing together Manage the monthly financial close process as well as additional accounting responsibilities and processes which cross business teams as a Senior Financial Consultant for UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation (UHCCF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This role will challenge you to leverage your broad financial skills and Blackbaud experience (Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge) to assist with all aspects of financial and accounting processes for the Foundation across the country. Candidates for this role must thrive in a self-starter and hands-on environment. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience managing and delivering on project and program benefits (revenue and expense elements)
  • Understanding of sound financial principles and the preparation of financial statement reporting from start to finish
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel, with proficient skills in both Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven event travel is less than 15%25 (domestic) - Flexible schedule (role may require occasional evening and weekends, primarily associated with event travel)
  • Based in Minnesota (preferably in the Minneapolis or St Paul, MN area in a commutable distance of the airport) with interest and ability to work independently as a telecommuter
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfort preparing and presenting meaningful financial presentations to officers, board members and to executive level audiences. Will represent the Foundation in the highest standards/guidelines
  • Proven highly collaborative with the ability to work within a team, virtually, and in a matrixed environment
  • Proven negotiation and people/customer service skills including ability to “close the deal” and execute on promises/commitments
  • Proven self-starter. Ability to work independently. Creative. Detail oriented. High level of emotional intelligence

  • 2+ years of Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge Experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable: Reconcile and process all check, electronic ACH, and Zelle payments to providers/vendors related to awarded grants and vendor invoices
  • Monthly Financial Close Process: Primarily consisting of the monthly bank reconciliations and the preparation and entry of all related journal entries into the accounting system, Financial Edge (FE). Create all supporting financial schedules, including revenues, donated services, etc. and reconcile these reports to the appropriate ledger balances, which are ultimately reflected in the monthly financial statements
  • Monthly Grant Fund Reporting: Prepare and reconcile monthly grant fund reporting, which calculates available funds required by Operations as a critical function of the monthly grant award process
  • Regional Board of Directors: attendance and participation in the three regional NBOD meetings, presenting financial reporting which summarizes the cash position of each region and provides the fund balances for each which are available to award as grants
  • Annual Financial Audit: Work closely with auditors on an annual basis as the primary Finance contact, provide all necessary data requested and address all questions regarding day-to-day financial processes
  • IRS Form 990: Work closely with team members, management, as well as the auditors to ensure all relevant activity and amounts are properly captured and reported in the Tax Organizer Form along with timely follow up on any outstanding auditor questions or requests. Data included in the Tax Organizer is used to prepare Form 990 for UHCCF
  • Solicitation Renewals: Coordinate the completion of the Annual Solicitation Renewal process for all states as required for 501(c)(3) organizations. This includes providing necessary financial information and ensuring that all forms are completed accurately and signed prior to filing
  • Fundraising/Awareness Events: May be required to lead awareness activities by coordinating tabling events and engaging employee groups through presentations about the Foundation
  • All Other: Annual UHC/Optum funding request, provide/format financial reports to be used in the UHCCF Annual Report filing, and all other duties as assigned
