About The Position

The Senior Accounting Advisory Manager will be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards and supporting strategic decision-making for the firm. This role is critical in delivering timely and practical accounting advice while being a commercial business partner with internal groups, including Business Development, Structuring, Legal, Tax, Operations, Investor Relations and other Finance teams. The objective is to ensure optimal transaction structuring and accurate accounting, financial, and investor reporting. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to support and influence decisions and drive collaborative outcomes across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on hedge funds, asset management or financial services
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, with specific experience in accounting for investment companies (ASC 946), business combinations (ASC 805), financial instruments (ASC 825), fair value measurements (ASC 820) and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • Experience with pass-through expense structures and their accounting implications is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to critically review and analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate complex accounting concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing accounting challenges.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial reporting systems is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience, ideally with a Big Four firm, is highly preferred, and industry experience in a similar role is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on technical accounting matters for the firm.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues surrounding the firm’s activities, strategic transactions and business development initiatives.
  • Act as a key liaison and trusted advisor to the CFO, Global Controller, other senior leaders in finance team, and key business partners outside of Finance, providing insights on the accounting and reporting implications of complex transactions (e.g., M&A, strategic partnerships, new product investments and new fund launches).
  • Actively participate in deal structuring discussions, providing accounting expertise to ensure transactions are optimally structured.
  • Collaborate with external advisors and auditors to formalize technical accounting conclusions.
  • Analyze and clearly communicate the accounting impact of new transactions and investments, including those involving pass-through expense structures.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and draft memos on complex transactions and investments.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication between the accounting department and other functions to ensure alignment on financial impacts and data requirements of new transactions.
  • Identify and drive efficiencies in accounting processes related to technical accounting and complex transactions, with a focus on pass-through expense structures, where applicable.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing technical assessments, responding to auditor and regulatory requests, and reviewing financial statements.
