About The Position

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining detailed financial records, and ensuring compliance with federal standards. This role supports the contract by processing payments, reconciling accounts, and developing financial reporting and associated processes, ensuring accuracy and accountability in all financial dealings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting emphasis (24 semester or 36 quarterly hours in accounting)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial management, bookkeeping, and compliance with contract standards
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial auditing
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of auditing standards and processes, including documenting and modifying processes and controls, identifying internal control deficiencies through testing and remediation of deficiencies, and evaluating transaction-level evidential matter
  • Flowcharting processes with Microsoft Visio
  • Able to obtain / maintain an Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine financial records
  • Ensure that financial records are accurate and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare financial documentation, including directives, instructions, reports, forms, and manuals, to ensure financial activities are well-documented and compliant
  • Perform payroll processing and resolve discrepancies to ensure contract staff are compensated accurately and on time
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports for audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and readiness for financial inspections
  • Review and verify the accuracy of financial data, ensuring consistency and compliance with accounting standards
  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents to facilitate easy retrieval during audits
  • Generate monthly and quarterly financial summaries to support contract performance assessments
  • Collaborate with the financial team to develop cost-saving measures and identify opportunities for financial efficiencies
  • Ensuring desk guides exist and are accurate for all accountant positions
