JOB SUMMARY: The Senior/Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organization’s financial integrity by ensuring accurate accounting, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support. This position works closely with the Controller and Finance team to ensure timely and reliable financial reporting in a multi-entity, fund-accounting environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Staff or Senior Accountant
  • Experience working with ERP systems (General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procurement modules) and payroll systems such as ADP or Paycom
  • Experience with fund accounting and reconciliation processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data
  • High level of organization and attention to detail, with a commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with policy
  • Perform payroll accounting, including full payroll and PTO accrual postings, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts, including accrued expenses
  • Ensure prepaid expenses are properly recorded and amortized with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation, disposals, and construction-in-progress schedules
  • Prepare routine tax and regulatory filings such as sales and use tax, property tax, parking tax, and related reports
  • Coordinate insurance-related activities, including annual renewals, certificates of insurance, premium schedules, and claims support
  • Support the annual financial audit through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Review transactions for appropriate fund and departmental coding in compliance with fund accounting requirements
  • Serve as backup for accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or cash posting as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation quality, and reporting accuracy
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller or senior leadership
