About The Position

We are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a long-standing engineering firm in the Sacramento area. Our client offers advancement opportunities and leaders who take pride in developing their teams. The Senior Accountant will assist with month and year end close, audits, budgeting, and general ledger accounting. Pay: $90,000-$110,000/year DOE. The qualified candidate has at least 5 years’ accounting experience and some construction industry experience,

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger management, and tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, and business license filings.
• Skilled in preparing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, conducting variance analysis, and supporting month-end close processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas) and experienced with ERP systems.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment with strong communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing, post general ledger entries, and perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and file sales, use, and property taxes, manage contractor and business license applications, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Conduct income statement variance analysis, assist in budget preparation, support year-end audit documentation, and generate financial reports for business divisions.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, manage acquisitions and depreciation, and ensure accurate revenue and cost allocations for financial reporting.
• Work closely with the Accounting Director on financial analysis, strategic initiatives, and process enhancements to improve efficiency.
