The Senior Accountant supports the firm’s day-to-day financial operations with a focus on general ledger activities, financial reporting, insurance administration and compliance. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring the firm meets ongoing reporting and compliance requirements. It is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to build strong technical accounting and systems experience in a professional services environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily and month-end cash reconciliations
  • Process daily cash sweep journal entries
  • Submit Positive Pay files to banking partners
  • Prepare routine journal entries and supporting workpapers
  • Maintain fixed asset records and related depreciation entries
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and roll-forwards
  • Support ongoing system integrations, including daily Practice Engine integrations
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis as requested
  • Assist Controller with annual insurance renewals including professional liability, cyber, general liability, and workers’ compensation
  • Support insurance audits and respond to data requests
  • Assist with preparation of periodic tax-related filings (e.g., NY Quarterly Rent Tax, Ohio CAT)
  • Assist with data cleansing efforts across financial and operational systems, including identifying, researching, and correcting inaccurate or incomplete records
  • Support ongoing data integrity by performing routine validations and reasonableness checks across integrated systems
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent use of data standards, naming conventions, and system inputs
  • Maintain and update billing rates in Practice Engine
  • Assist with documentation and process improvements for assigned responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal accounting team members to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timelines
