About The Position
Senior Accountant Own the Close. Be the Go‑To. Make an Impact. Location: Hybrid – Annapolis Junction, MD Type: Contract If you enjoy running point on month‑end close , working hands-on in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) , and want a role where your work is highly visible and valued, this is it! Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong, hands‑on experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- Proven experience owning month‑end close (not just supporting it)
- Solid GAAP knowledge and strong Excel skills
- Someone who is organized, deadline‑driven, and takes pride in accurate work
Nice To Haves
- CPA or CPA‑eligible
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, government contracting, or distribution
- Multi‑entity or high‑volume close experience
- Process improvement or system upgrade experience
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process from start to finish — journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, review, and reporting
- Act as a Dynamics GP power user , ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with confidence and precision
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for leadership
- Analyze variances and explain the “why” behind the numbers
- Support audits and serve as a key accounting contact
- Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, and shorten the close
