About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in managing all accounting functions with a strong focus on project accounting. This role ensures that all company and project-related transactions are accurately and timely recorded. It also provides financial reporting, job cost analysis, variance reviews, and forecasting support for project managers and leadership. The Senior Accountant helps maintain internal controls, supports month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensures the accuracy of accounting documentation and procedures. This position reports directly to the Controller.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience.
  • Construction or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting concepts, including job cost tracking, WIP, cost to complete, and change orders.
  • Experience with month-end close, billing, reconciliations, and audit procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting or ERP systems (CSI preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and strong data management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with urgency during peak periods.
  • This position may require you to work more than normal business hours during periods of peak business demands, special projects, financial closings, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting or ERP systems (CSI preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyze, and report project costs, budgets, billings, and committed costs.
  • Monitor WIP schedules, percent complete, project margins, and cost-to-complete updates.
  • Review and document change orders, contract amounts, and other revenue impacts.
  • Support project managers with job cost reporting, financial reviews, and forecasting
  • Reconcile project-related accounts such as project WIPS, COGS, contract assets, contract liabilities, and revenue recognition.
  • Enter general ledger transactions, prepare account reconciliations, and support the close process.
  • Prepare and present balance sheet and income statement results with analysis.
  • Review accounting data and produce financial reports and department statements.
  • Perform revenue and expenditure variance analysis and explain major changes.
  • Support interim and year-end audit requirements with the external accounting firm.
  • Assist with tax-related documentation and compliance needs.
  • Review project billing, materials purchases, and contract documents for proper sales and use tax application and compliance.
  • Maintain documentation for accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support physical inventory audits and inventory reconciliation.
  • Prepare sales commission calculations and entries.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of accounting records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
