About The Position

Sacramento Ultrasound Institute (SUI) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will manage the monthly close process, maintain strong internal controls, support audits, and collaborate with external CPAs and leadership. This role requires a hands-on professional who can operate independently and bring structure to a growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience preparing financial statements
  • Experience supporting external audits
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of integrity and discretion
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Clear communication with non-financial leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in education, healthcare, or nonprofit environments
  • Experience with Title IV or federally funded institutions
  • CPA or CPA-track candidate

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare accurate financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow)
  • Perform and review account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger integrity
  • Analyze budget vs. actual performance and provide variance explanations
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Monitor tuition receivables and student payment plans
  • Coordinate payroll processing and related reconciliations
  • Manage bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm for annual GAAP audits
  • Assist with regulatory and accreditation financial reporting requirements
  • Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvements
  • Improve accounting workflows and documentation
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist in implementing or optimizing accounting software and reporting tools
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital
  • Prepare cash projections
  • Support leadership with financial insights for operational decisions
