About The Position

We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team in our Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. In this role you will report to the Regional Finance Manager. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the company’s expansion across North America. You’ll play a key role in budgeting and forecasting, accounting, and cost control, while helping build scalable financial processes and improve how the business operates as we grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and associated work experience, CPA or CA qualified
  • Minimum of 5yrs of relevant experience in corporate finance, FP&A, investment banking, or related fields
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as JD Edwards (JDE) or SAP; JDE experience is preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in Power BI
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and translate detailed analysis into clear, actionable insights and recommendations
  • Commitment to Thiess’ values of safety, discovery, accountability, respect, and empowerment
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess
  • Must be fluent in the English language

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in finance within the mining industry would be an asset for this role

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Work across functional teams to prepare and manage budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare detailed variance analysis and commentary
  • Cash Forecasting
  • Accounting
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the USA and Canada
  • Manage Intercompany recharges (Australia – USA, Australia – Canada, USA – Canada)
  • Prepare payroll costing, ensuring accurate payroll allocations to projects and overhead cost centers
  • Cost Control
  • Manage all other and overhead jobs
  • Identify and implement cost saving opportunities
  • Manage Expense Claims and Credit Cards
  • Assist projects where required with cost control and business optimization
  • Reporting
  • Consolidate Business Unit results for North America
  • Financial reporting in line with group reporting requirements
  • Manage payroll taxes and filings
  • Manage banking, manual payments and doc offsets including bank reconciliations
  • Administration
  • Procurement
  • Thiess Procure to Pay expert
  • Provide training to new employees where required
  • Manage the Accounts Payable Workflow for various approval routes
  • Manage procurement housekeeping reports
  • Systems
  • Development and implementation of scalable systems
  • Development of reporting tools
  • Project support
  • Support the North America region through collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
