About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support business operations and compliance requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
Proactive, self-directed, and collaborative

Nice To Haves

CPA or CPA-eligible
Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm)
Experience in Insurance, MGA, start up environment
Experience with SOX, internal controls, or regulatory reporting
Familiarity with equity compensation, revenue recognition (ASC 606)

Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Support audits (financial, internal, regulatory) and respond to auditor inquiries
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
Review and maintain general ledger accuracy
Assist with technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, equity, and accruals
Partner with FP&A, operations, and other departments to improve financial processes
Identify and implement process improvements and accounting system enhancements
Mentor junior accounting staff as needed
