You’ll have an incredible opportunity to grow your career in a company that values your contributions and puts a premium on work flexibility, learning, and career development.  SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for the monthly general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement analysis, and balance sheet and income statement presentation.Your role in our mission reviewing and auditing inventory updates and accountings filed with the Trust Unit by trustees of Special Needs Trusts.Ensures trust financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted fiduciary standards, as well as federal and state law and policy regarding Special Needs TrustsReviews and audits inventory updates and accountings filed by trustees of Special Needs Trust to determine whether trust expenditures and investments comply with the requirements of federal and state law and policy, specifically including the rules of the Social Security Administration as set forth in the POMS and the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services through the State Medicaid Manual.Conducts financial review and audit of Special Needs Trust inventories and annual accountings in accordance with approved program workflow.  Interface with Casualty and Estate Recovery Units, Medicaid Legal department, legal community, trustees, and case workers.  Create electronic files, enter information and create financial reports.  Create and organize physical files.  Enter and maintain accounting review cases in Maestro and state clients’ MMIS systems.Provides continuing follow up of Trust Payback Claims, including interface with trustees and attorneysReceives and processes Payback payments, creates invoice to state client, as well as Releases to trusteeProvides information and education to trustees, legal community, state clients and others regarding applicable policy, accounting standards and formats, payback requirements, etc.Individuals must have ability to meet assigned deadlines. Strong attention to detail. Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls.
  • Auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
  • Ability to create and generate periodic reports and ad hoc reports as requested by state clients

Responsibilities
