About The Position

Ready to take ownership of financial accuracy and play a key role in a high-performing accounting team? American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team to execute and support core accounting functions with a high degree of accuracy, ownership, and adherence to GAAP. This role is a critical contributor to the integrity of financial reporting…owning key components of month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger activity while supporting audits, process improvements, and ERP initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience required
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles (accruals, debits/credits, reconciliations)
  • Experience reviewing journal entries and financial transactions
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ownership mindset with ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned components of the month-end close process
  • Review journal entries and supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies impacting financial reporting
  • Maintain and improve month-end close processes and checklists
  • Review transactional activity and general ledger entries
  • Support daily bank reconciliations
  • Provide guidance on GAAP, chart of accounts, and accounting structure
  • Manage accounting activities across entities, including subsidiaries and non-profit entities
  • Own and expand balance sheet reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, identifying root causes
  • Ensure reconciliations are audit-ready and well-documented
  • Develop schedules for complex items such as prepaid expenses and payroll variances
  • Generate and review financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and insurance processes
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to leadership
  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights
  • Document accounting processes and workflows
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and standardization
  • Support implementation of best practices and ERP system enhancements
  • Support annual audit processes and external financial reviews
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for audits
  • Participate in ERP implementation and finance-related initiatives
