About The Position

The Senior Accountant coordinates, implements, and oversees complex accounting activities including journal entries, financial statements, account reconciliations, compliance with GAAP accounting, financial reporting requirements, and assistance with the budget process. This role involves training, teaching, and providing daily supervision to staff accountants, accounting specialists, accounting technicians, and accounting interns. The Senior Accountant is responsible for reviewing recorded journal entries and monthly financial statements to identify unusual or significant variances, ensuring financial statements are fairly stated. The position also involves completing more complex or judgmental accounting areas with oversight from an Accounting Manager and Accounting Director. This role is part of Saint Luke’s Health System, a faith-based, nonprofit, locally owned health system in Kansas City with 12,000 employees, committed to excellence in patient care and fostering a diverse and inclusive workspace.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Accounting with 15 years of experience or Bachelors degree in Accounting.
• Applicable Experience: 2 years Bachelor's Degree - Accounting

Responsibilities

• Completion of accounting areas that are more complex or judgmental in nature with oversight from Accounting Manager and Accounting Director.
