About The Position

The Heritage Project includes 16 power generation facilities across PA, NJ, and OH, featuring a variety of equipment such as combined-cycle units, dual-fuel turbines, and subcritical boilers. These sites support a mix of fuel sources, including natural gas, oil, and gas-fired systems. The Senior Accountant for the Heritage Project provides comprehensive accounting support and financial coordination across this multi-site portfolio. This role is responsible for project-based financial activities, including reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close processes, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls. Primarily based at the Gilbert Generating Station, the position collaborates with plant management, auditors, and other stakeholders to support audits, financial reporting, and budgeting initiatives. Occasional travel to other plant locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey is required.

Requirements

  • Strong background in accounting and finance, including general accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll, financial reporting, and support of administrative and HR-related processes.
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required; Relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Exposure to project-based financial activities, including reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with management, auditors, and plant personnel.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain accurate records to meet deadlines across multiple sites.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize complex financial data accurately.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, able to work independently or within a team, with flexibility for occasional travel to plant locations and support of diverse accounting initiatives.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
  • Participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, including a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening and audiogram, as well post-employment random drug screening.
  • Remain mentally alert and work safely at all times.
  • Adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property.
  • Follow all NAES safety rules and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • A CPA designation or progress towards a CPA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Accounting experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy-related operations is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Great Plains accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting coordination and financial support for assigned project sites and multiple operating locations, ensuring accurate processing, reporting, and compliance with company procedures.
  • Compile and analyze financial data for assigned sites, identify, and resolve discrepancies, and prepare consolidated financial summaries across multiple locations for management review and decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports in accordance with GAAP and company policies, applying established accounting standards and escalating technical issues as needed.
  • Preparation of month-end journal entries related to plant accruals, prepaid expenses, and other plant-related accounts.
  • Timely completion of all financial reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare account reconciliations with supporting documentation and assist in investigating and resolving discrepancies identified during the reconciliation process.
  • Assist in budget-to-actual variance analysis by identifying, documenting, and highlighting key cost differences for management review.
  • Support audit activities by preparing documentation, responding to information requests, and assisting in compiling schedules for external auditors.
  • Participation in the annual budgeting process.
  • Ongoing compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Contribution to ad hoc projects and special analyses supporting broader financial initiatives.
  • Occasional travel to plant locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
  • Collaborate with auditors, external CPAs, plant managers, plant personnel, and other management and administrative staff by providing requested financial documentation and facilitating effective communication to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely issue resolution.
  • Handle additional general accounting tasks, providing broad support for the finance function and related activities as needed.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary ranging from $81,300 to $100,000
  • Eligibility for an annual performance bonus
