About The Position

The Senior Accountant contributes to the financial wellbeing of CenterState CEO, its subsidiaries, and affiliates. This role is responsible for performing and reviewing a variety of accounting functions, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. This position serves as a reviewer of daily finance operations performed by the Finance and Accounts Payable Specialist and the Accounts Receivable and Grants Specialist. While this role does not have direct supervisory responsibility, it acts as a quality control checkpoint to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with organizational policies and deadlines. The Senior Accountant partners closely with the Senior Director of Finance to support adherence to monthly close timelines, audit readiness, and sound cash management practices. This role also oversees all banking activities, including wires, ACH transactions, positive pay uploads, and daily cash management. All resumes should be submitted by Friday, March 6th, 2026

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of general accounting experience.
  • Experience with banking platforms, wire processing, ACH transactions, and cash management required.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Experience with financial systems and accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

  • Experience with nonprofit accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily accounting transactions processed by the Finance and Accounts Payable Specialist and the Accounts Receivable and Grants Specialist to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
  • Act as a functional reviewer of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, ensuring transactions are entered timely and correctly, without direct supervisory authority.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Finance in monitoring deadlines and ensuring finance team deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal departments and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and payment inquiries.
  • Review aging reports and follow up on outstanding receivables and payables as needed.
  • Assist with reviewing payroll and Accounts Payable cash requirements prior to payment processing.
  • Maintain and reconcile subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, trends, or potential issues to finance leadership in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all organizational banking activities.
  • Prepare, initiate, and process bank transfers, ACH transactions, wires, and deposits.
  • Ensure wires are properly set up, approved, and processed accurately and timely.
  • Upload and monitor Positive Pay files to mitigate fraud risk and ensure proper payment controls.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity.
  • Complete assigned bank reconciliations in a timely manner as part of the monthly closing process.
  • Maintain banking documentation and authorized signer records as required.
  • Ensure internal financial controls and accounting policies are consistently followed.
  • Support preparation and completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Finance with month-end and year-end closing activities, annual budget preparation, financial audits, and tax preparation.
  • Participate in the year-end audit process for CenterState CEO and its affiliated entities.
  • Assist in documenting, strengthening, and improving accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reports as requested.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and organized financial records.
  • Respond to accounting-related questions from employees and provide timely, accurate information.
  • Cross-train within the finance department to provide backup support as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support operational and reporting needs.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
  • Maintain working knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and financial systems.
  • Perform additional duties within the scope of the position to support organizational values.
