About The Position

About RTA RTA helps fleets run safer, smarter, and more efficiently. Our customers keep communities moving every day—service organizations, government fleets, and teams responsible for vehicles people rely on. We are a SaaS business that values high ownership, strong cross-functional partnership, and continuous improvement. Culturally, we align around Humble, Hungry, and Smart. We keep egos in check, bring a strong work ethic, and communicate with emotional intelligence. If you like collaborating with people who care about doing things the right way—and who also hold each other accountable—you will fit in well here. About the role We are hiring a Senior Accountant to own meaningful pieces of the monthly close and serve as a go-to partner for SaaS revenue recognition. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in clean financials, airtight support, and building processes that scale. You will help ensure our revenue recognition is accurate and defensible, our reconciliations are tight, and our close cadence is reliable as we grow. This role sits at the center of accounting operations: you will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, FP&A, and leadership to ensure we are recognizing revenue correctly, billing cleanly, and closing on time. What success looks like (first 6–12 months) The close runs like clockwork for your owned areas: predictable timelines, clean reconciliations, and minimal rework. Revenue recognition is consistent and audit-ready: subscription revenue, services, add-ons, renewals, and contract changes are handled accurately under ASC 606. Deferred revenue and contract schedules are maintained with strong documentation and clear logic. Issues are surfaced early with solutions: you do not “discover” problems at the end of close—you prevent them. Processes improve over time: fewer manual steps, better checklists, better documentation, and stronger controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA-track preferred)
  • 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS or technology
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and practical, working knowledge of ASC 606
  • Experience owning meaningful areas of month-end close and producing clean, supportable workpapers
  • Familiarity with modern accounting and revenue tools such as QuickBooks Online, Maxio (or similar subscription billing/rev rec tools), Avalara, Paylocity, HubSpot, Mosaic, or comparable systems
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills with strong analytical capability
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently in a scaling, fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-entity and/or multi-state operations
  • Experience improving quote-to-cash controls and revenue processes end-to-end
  • Audit support experience (either public accounting background or in-house audit readiness ownership)

Responsibilities

  • Own key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process (timelines, tasks, and deliverables for your areas)
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
  • Maintain GL integrity and ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP
  • Create clear support and documentation for accounting conclusions and close deliverables
  • Support audit requests and year-end reporting, including preparing schedules and responding to questions
  • Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition policies across subscriptions, services, and add-ons
  • Manage deferred revenue schedules, including renewals, upgrades/downgrades, contract modifications, and multi-year deals
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure billing accuracy and contract terms support proper accounting treatment
  • Help strengthen quote-to-cash practices by identifying gaps, risks, and control improvements
  • Provide oversight into sales tax calculations, filings, nexus monitoring, and compliance practices to ensure accuracy and consistency with company policies
  • Support AP, expense management, credit cards, payroll accounting, and accruals as needed to keep operations moving
  • Assist with cash management, bank reconciliations, and treasury-related activities
  • Maintain and improve accounting workflows, close checklists, and internal controls
  • Help document policies and procedures so the team can scale without chaos
  • Partner with FP&A on budget vs actuals reviews and departmental reporting
  • Provide accounting guidance to cross-functional partners with clarity and practicality
  • Identify automation opportunities and help optimize accounting systems and tools

Benefits

  • A culture that values ownership, direct communication, and doing right by the team
  • A business where accounting is a strategic partner, not a back-office afterthought
  • Visibility: direct access to the Controller and CFO, with meaningful leadership interaction
  • The opportunity to build scalable close and revenue practices in a growing SaaS environment
