About The Position

The Senior Accountant position is planned to develop into an Assistant Controller. This person will create timely and accurate reporting for the businesses through both routine and ad hoc reporting requests.  This position will have exposure to all areas of the businesses, including but not limited to: daily production reporting; roll stock inventory; accounts payable; sales; prime materials; R&M; distribution; energy and overheads. Other functions include assisting the Controller with weekly forecasts, mid-month estimates, month-end close, annual budget and ad hoc presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint); Intermediate Excel skills including: formulas, pivot tables, lookups and graphs.
  • Strong general ledger and accounts payable working knowledge 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals, professional journals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees of the company.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and net present value.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel as well as accounting software)
  • Proficient knowledge and application of accounting principles
  • Quality standards – both ISO and QS
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, ear protection, and steel toed shoes on the job.
  • Expect and be able to accommodate short notice for overtime and weekend work schedules.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for conferences, training, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years in a manufacturing industry.
  • SAP, CERTIFY & MILLWIDE.
  • Willingness to relocate for future advancement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Production Reporting
  • Roll Stock (RS) reporting:  consumption, receipts, on hand and aged inventory
  • Physical Inventories and cycle counts (Roll Stock)
  • Process accounts payable, expense reports and review of EDI (RS) shipments
  • Process casual labor liabilities
  • Prepare weekly estimates for RS consumption, rebates and baled waste income
  • Assist in the month-end closing and financial reporting process, including account analysis - prime materials and converting costs (Energy, R&M, Distribution and Overheads):
  • Goods Received/ Invoice Received reconciliation and clearing
  • Prepare POs and FIs before AP cut-off
  • Prepare and submit Sales Tax Reports
  • Overhead review and accruals 
  • Complete month-end (ME) closing for Roll Stock:  Mill Wide ME Cut-off, RS consumption, rebates & waste income, includes account reconciliations
  • Prepare headcount reporting
  • Prepare Shrink Calculation
  • Prepare and post Statistical data to SAP
  • Work with Controller to prepare and submit weekly estimates, including formal mid-month projections to Corporate.
  • Work closely with Controller and Management Team to develop and prepare the annual budget, including KPI’s for presentation to Pratt Executive Management.
  • Document processes
  • Ensure existence and adherence to internal controls
  • Heavy ad hoc reporting and analysis using Excel and other systems
  • Work autonomous and have the ability to effectively multitask.
  • Complies with safety regulations and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
