About The Position

Grindr is looking for a high-performing Senior Accountant to play a key role in strengthening and scaling our accounting function in a public-company environment. This is a role for someone who has built strong technical foundations — and is excited to apply that rigor inside a fast-paced, growing business. You’ll join a team that is in active build mode: enhancing processes, tightening controls, and elevating the quality and speed of our close. We’re looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, brings strong ownership over their workstreams, and wants to be part of building a best-in-class accounting organization. This role sits at the center of our monthly close and financial reporting process. You will have meaningful exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to drive improvements that directly impact the integrity and efficiency of our financial operations.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with foundational training in a public accounting firm (Big 4 or national audit experience preferred).
  • CPA certification (active or in progress preferred).
  • Experience participating in or supporting the month-end close process in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, well-supported reconciliations and documentation suitable for external audit review.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally and communicating accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership in a growing organization where processes continue to evolve.

Nice To Haves

  • Are energized by building and improving processes rather than simply maintaining them.
  • Enjoy partnering with operational teams (e.g., Engineering, Product) to understand business activity and translate it into sound accounting treatment.
  • Have experience working in a public company or high-growth tech environment.
  • Possess strong Excel and data analysis skills, and are comfortable working within ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, or similar).
  • Take pride in producing clean, audit-ready workpapers and documentation.
  • Are motivated to grow with the organization and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of a best-in-class accounting function.

Responsibilities

  • Play a critical role in the monthly close process, including journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules for financial reporting and audit purposes.
  • Analyze financial results and fluctuations month-over-month, partnering with FP&A and operational teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and clear documentation of significant drivers.
  • Support the ongoing build-out and uplift of our accounting processes and controls, identifying opportunities for automation, improved documentation, and scalability as the company continues to grow.
  • Assist in preparing audit-ready documentation and technical accounting memos, working closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support a smooth audit process.
  • Contribute to strengthening our internal control environment, including documentation and testing support for SOX compliance.
  • Act as a trusted member of the accounting team, bringing a detail-oriented, solution-driven mindset to complex and evolving accounting issues.

Benefits

  • Insurance premium coverage for health, dental, and vision for you and partial coverage for your dependents.
  • Generous 401K plan with 6% match and immediate vest in the U.S.
  • Industry-competitive compensation and eligibility for company bonus and equity programs.
  • Industry-leading gender-affirming offerings with up to 90% cost coverage, access to Included Health, monthly stipends for HRT, and more.
  • Flexible vacation policy, monthly stipends for cell phone, internet, wellness, food, and commuting, breakfast/lunch provided onsite, and yearly travel & leisure stipend.
