About The Position

The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in the financial health and operational efficiency of our growing agency. Working directly with the SVP of Finance, you will move beyond simple transaction processing to take ownership of the General Ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting. We are looking for a collaborative analytical thinker who doesn't just spot numbers, but understands the story behind them. The ideal candidate has a strong command of accounting principles (GAAP), is obsessively organized, and brings a proactive, solution-oriented mindset to process improvement. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with HR, Operations and PR teams leading with the philosophy that Method is my client, as you support Method s Salt Lake and San Francisco offices. This position reports to the SVP of Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience (Agency or Professional Services industry experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel).
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct. Deltek Maconomy a plus, ).
  • High attention to detail, ability to meet strict deadlines, and strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and amortization.
  • Perform comprehensive bank and balance sheet reconciliations and analyze P&L variances to budget/forecast.
  • Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Provide variance and financial analyses as needed.
  • Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable and Receivable to ensure optimal cash flow management.
  • Review and approve vendor coding and ensure proper documentation for all expenses.
  • Manage client invoicing cycles and monitor aging reports to drive timely collections.
  • Oversee daily bank reconciliations and manage cash position reporting.
  • Process outgoing wire transfers and manage vendor relationships.
  • Manage annual 1099 filing and reporting compliance.
  • Oversee and approve a semi-monthly payroll review.
  • Work with a Payroll accountant to oversee benefits and 401k administration as well as annual 401k audit.
  • Ensure compliance to state and local payroll laws.
  • Analyze current accounting workflows and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Serve as the administrator for time-tracking and expense management systems, ensuring policy compliance.
  • Review corporate credit card activity and manage expense reporting reconciliations.
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting software or ERP integrations as the agency scales.
  • Support the annual financial audit and tax return preparation by providing schedules and documentation to external auditors and tax preparers.
  • Manage fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and capitalization policies.
  • Conduct new client credit checks and assist in the financial review of client and new vendor contracts/SOWs.
  • Protect assets and compliance by monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Assist with filing of necessary local and state tax filings.
