About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Inventory Accounting Supervisor, the Senior Accountant, prepares inventory control and reporting for terminal customers, prepares exchange inventory accounting reports, and various pricing reports. The Senior Accountant also provides inventory control and support functions for the Finance Department. Desired competencies include: proven accounting skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ideal candidate must be reliable and extremely trustworthy with the ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records, as well as able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment. Incumbent is expected to have sound knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Prior relevant experience in the energy industry and SAP accounting environment is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Three to Five years of progressively responsible experience as an inventory accountant or auditor with experience in oil & gas or other related fields.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
  • Must be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must be able to qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Ability to uphold to strict ethical standards: integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Ability to maintain automated and manual record keeping systems.
  • Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to evaluate information and exercise good judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Performs terminal reconciliations – Account for finished product inventory, receipts, sales, and transfer volumes daily.
  • Analyzes petroleum product inventories.
  • Performs exchange inventory accounting, all exchange postings in SAP, and works closely with exchange partners to track and manage exchange balances and fees.
  • Provide timely inventory reports to suppliers and customers and maintains a good relationship by addressing requests in a professional manner.
  • Maintains inventory record in SAP.
  • Ensure inventory control by preparing monitoring reports with adequate documentation.
  • Performs balance sheet reconciliation, record journal entries and assist in month-end/year-end close.
  • Validate inventory purchase term and invoices.
  • Special reports as assigned.

  • As needed, performs tasks to serve as backup for other staff in their absence. Tasks may include: audit support, internal auditing, specialty report preparation.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the scope of the position.
  • Proactively updates and maintains operating standards, emergency procedures and any other documents as needed.
  • Performs a variety of special assignments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
