About The Position

The Lummus Senior Accountant serves as a key member of the finance team, supporting the Chief Financial Officer in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting, and strengthening internal controls. This role is deeply involved in cost accounting, inventory management, fixed asset management and operational analysis—critical areas in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with a hands‑on, process‑improvement mindset. Develops strong internal working relationships, including building cross-functional partnerships with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, human resources, and IT. Champion for process improvement and able to drive their own agenda. Promotes teamwork and escalates known business issues. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 3–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance Support the month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Assist the CFO with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
  • Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance Maintain and analyze standard costs, bill of materials (BOM), and routing structures.
  • Monitor production variances, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and scrap reporting.
  • Partner with operations to understand cost drivers and improve profitability.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement Strengthening internal controls across accounting and manufacturing workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance reporting.
  • Support ERP enhancements, data integrity initiatives, and automation projects.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, supply chain, engineering, and sales teams to ensure financial alignment.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision‑making at all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO on operational and financial matters.
