Based out of Smokey Mo’s headquarters, this role will report directly to the CFO. General Job Function The Senior Accountant plays a key role in Smokey Mo’s accounting department and provides accounting support to restaurant and operations’ management. This position works with all aspects of accounting to ensure the accuracy of Smokey Mo’s financial records and requires a high degree of critical thinking and analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Five years or more of related experience required.
Strong accounting foundation and thorough understanding of GAAP.
Proficient in Google Workspace or similar software.
Motivated self-starter and ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a dynamic environment.
Ability to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
Ability to build trusting relationships with cross-functional partners.
Possess intellectual curiosity and strong analytical/critical thinking skills.

Nice To Haves

Industry experience in Restaurant or Hospitality preferred.
Experience with Restaurant 365 and Paylocity preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide accounting support to restaurant operations across multiple locations.
Maintain accounting records using Restaurant 365.
Reconcile Daily Sales Summaries for multiple locations and post related journal entries.
Upload daily bank transactions to Restaurant 365.
Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and post related journal entries.
Prepare weekly accruals and posts related journal entries.
Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
Oversee the inventory accounting process.
Process weekly payroll for multiple restaurant locations.
Reconcile and maintain balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Assist with assigned period-end close responsibilities and ensure accounting deadlines are met.
Perform review of period financial statements.
Support annual external financial review.
Handle administrative duties including accurate and timely data entry.
Work to ensure that all entries on General Ledger are accurate and done in a timely manner.
Assist Chief Financial Officer in driving process improvement.
Maintain strong internal controls.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
