About The Position

The Senior Accountant handles general accounting functions utilizing generally accepted accounting principles and provides ongoing strategic analysis and direction to operations management for assigned area. This position reports in Controller or VP of Finance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of experience in the accounting profession
• Experience in an Accounting or Reporting system
• Ability to read and interpret customer contracts
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work independently
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to troubleshoot accounting discrepancies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work with internal and external clients on related project work
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Access
• Independent self-starter
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management

Responsibilities

• Manages month end close.
• Provides guidance to more junior staff.
• Prepare journal entries for monthly close.
• Review and audit customer contracts against monthly invoices.
• Provided financial statement analysis to ensure accuracy, including income statements, balance sheet, cash flow and other analytic reports as needed by upper management.
• Prepares reports for management on an ad hoc basis.
• Provides strategic financial direction to operations management.
• Liaison between operations and other support services (A/P, A/R, Payroll, IT, etc.)
• Key role in maintaining and developing accounting systems.
• Coordinates and plays key role in yearly audit with external auditors.
• Participate in yearly budget creation working closely with the operations staff as well as internal Director of Forecasting and Analytics.
• Budget vs Actual analysis and recommendations monthly.
• Assists on projects or duties as needed.
