About The Position

Chegg is looking for a Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting that has a positive attitude, is highly motivated, and has a proven ability to thrive successfully in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, technical accounting and supporting other functions within the accounting department and is a detail-oriented team player that can collaborate cross-functionally with a very strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls. This position reports to the Sr. Director, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting and Treasury and can be remote or hybrid out of our Santa Clara, CA headquarters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • CPA and industry experience preferred
  • Strong understanding and proficiency of U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Ability to independently research accounting & reporting issues, propose solutions, and effectively document conclusions
  • Superior analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task and deliver on multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency or familiarity with NetSuite and Workiva Wdesk preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead our external financial reporting process, including quarterly and annual reporting (Form 10-Q and Form 10-K), earnings press release, other SEC filings, and other financial reporting as required ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Responsibility for areas that fall under technical accounting including, but not limited to, equity, leases, EPS, and internally developed software
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close including financial statement preparation, analysis and variance reporting.
  • Research and document technical accounting issues and assess impacts of non-routine transactions
  • Draft and update accounting policies and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Coordinate with internal auditors for SOX processes and external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Perform various ad hoc projects as requested
