About The Position

The responsibilities of the Senior Accountant, SEC Reporting and M&A Accounting primarily include the preparation and tie-out of Quanta’s quarterly and annual Securities and Exchange (SEC) filings on Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K, as well as the preparation and compilation of the workpapers supporting the disclosures in these filings. The Senior Accountant also assists with research projects for various technical accounting issues. In addition, on an as needed basis, this position assists the team with certain aspects of business combination accounting and related acquisition/disposition transactions. The position requires interaction with various groups within the corporate offices (i.e. Corporate and Divisional Accounting, Legal, Mergers & Acquisitions, Treasury, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations, etc.), as well as domestic and international operating units’ accounting personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting and minimum 3 years public accounting experience or 4 years combined public accounting and relevant industry experience within accounting field.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP accounting requirements and experience with technical accounting research.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to build relationships and effectively interact with other accounting and non-accounting departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Challenges accuracy of information received and effectiveness/efficiency of processes performed.
  • Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple, concurrent tasks including the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment in order to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the reporting process for all SEC filings on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K Earnings Release, 8-K proforma financial statements and other published earnings and investor materials, which includes responsibilities such as: Set-up, preparation, organization and maintenance of all supporting quarterly and annual project documents and spreadsheets in Workiva, Disclosure preparation and compilation of supporting workpapers, Tie-out preparation, XBRL tag preparation and review, MD&A drafting and compilation of supporting workpapers, CEO and CFO script review and tie-out, Compilation of historical, forecast and Non-GAAP metrics for earnings releases and other earnings day materials, and Investor relations deck review and tie-out.
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of SEC financial tables and schedules in support of 10-Q and 10-K financial statements and disclosures, particularly related to earnings per share and weighted average shares outstanding calculations, Non-GAAP tables, multi-employer pension disclosure, goodwill disclosure, inventory amounts, purchase commitment amounts, current expected credit loss estimates, proforma financials and others.
  • Coordinates the collection, tracking and organization of all SEC supporting schedules from various groups within the corporate office and at the operating units and works closely with the external audit team each quarter to ensure all schedules are provided.
  • Assists in the preparation and tie-out of various internal and external presentations including Board and Investor slide decks, annual sustainability reports, annual proxy statements as well as the review of data posted to the Company’s Interactive Analyst Center (IAC).
  • Assists with the annual goodwill impairment assessment and prepares journal entries for periodic internal goodwill reallocations.
  • Performs quarterly fluctuation analyses with respect to certain Quanta consolidated accounts under the responsibility of the External Reporting team.
  • Reviews contract summary templates prepared by operating units to ensure proper application of ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements for large customer contracts.
  • Assists team with certain aspects of business combination accounting as related to Quanta’s frequent merger and acquisition activity, including: preparation of purchase accounting workpapers and opening balance sheet journal entries, tracking and accounting for earnout liabilities, preparation of proforma financials and monitoring acquisition and investment significance test for any reporting or disclosure requirements.
  • Researches technical accounting issues and assists in the preparation of memorandums that summarize the Company’s position including topics such as implementation of new accounting standards, impairment triggering events, segment reporting, cash flow treatment for complex transactions, business combination accounting considerations, and other miscellaneous technical accounting matters as they arise.
  • Performs internal controls for areas of responsibility.
  • Evaluates existing processes for efficiencies and control deficiencies.
  • Recommends and implements process improvements as identified.
