About The Position

Gift of Life Donor Program the non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. We are responsible for recovering organs and tissues used in lifesaving and life-enhancing transplants. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong reporting and compliance experience to join our growing Finance team. In this new and challenging role, you will be responsible for overseeing critical aspects of the organization's financial processes, including updating and preparing IRS Form 990, creating and maintaining departmental budget templates, developing functional expense reports for the annual financial audit, and generating financial reports utilizing Management Reporter software. This role also involves filing charitable returns and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the organization's budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance functions.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in professional accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze, and maintain balance sheet account analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains) and advanced Excel skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in preparing and reviewing financial reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Form 990 updates
  • Create budget templates
  • Prepare functional expense reporting
  • Create financial reporting
  • Manage charitable returns
  • Provide audit support, particularly related to the functional expense reports and Form 990 preparation
  • Implements process improvement
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments
  • Ensures compliance
  • Assist in the monthly and year-end financial close process, including review, analysis, and distribution of internal and external financial information while reviewing financial data for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness.
  • Create monthly and year-end closing journal entries, including expense accruals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, depreciation etc.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
