About The Position

Blue Cross is hiring a Senior Accountant for Rebates and Other Liabilities. This role manages accounting for rebates and liabilities, coordinates month-end close, analyzes financial data, and advises senior management. Responsibilities include technical guidance, improving accounting controls, supporting reporting projects, handling audits, and responding to inquiries from internal and external parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Workday, Blackline, Alteryx, and CoPilot preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, assist with the monthly close activities, prepare schedules and other general accounting functions.
  • Coordinate and work cross functionally with the actuary team, pharmacy team, and others as needed to administer the accounting for pharmacy and medical rebates
  • Manage or perform functions related to accounting and or reporting on a GAAP/STAT basis.
  • Participate in financial accounting issues resolution and process procedural changes.
  • Utilize systems such as Alteryx and Microsoft Co-pilot to automate processes.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, support & problem solving assistance, and knowledge transfer to others.
  • Research financial and operating data (including technical accounting pronouncements, promulgated regulatory bulletins, and benchmarked industry information), prepares financial analyses and reports of findings and prepares recommendations to management,
  • Initiate projects to improve processes/controls, partner with project teams to ensure resolution of project/post-project issues and participate on cross-functional projects as a finance representative.
  • Review financial statements and supporting documentation for GAAP/STAT monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal/external audiences.
  • Assist with audits by providing requested information to auditors and resolve issues and draft resolutions.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls and perform self-testing.
