Assists with all activities concerned with Finance, including, but not limited to: Cash Management, Financial Performance, Internal Controls, Auditing, Account reconciliation, and Financial Statement preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum five years of recent experience in hospital accounting.
  • Demonstrated analytical and interpretive ability as it relates to GAAP accounting and GAAS auditing standards
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of accounting and auditing systems, as indicated by prior work history
  • Knowledge of reimbursement bond and fund accounting
  • Experience with information systems, mainframe, and microcomputer applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • CPA candidate / equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred. ( Two years of public accounting experience will be accepted in lieu of five years of accounting experience ).
  • CPA Preferred
  • Experience in accounting software currently in use desirable

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial and reporting documents for all divisions and submits to Director of Accounting for final approval.
  • Analyzes balance sheet accounts and prepares required documentation and makes recommendations for work product of Staff and Senior Accountants as required.
  • Maintains responsibility for ensuring that recommendations are carried out by Staff and Senior Accountants as applicable.
  • Prepares all data necessary for any comfort letters, financial projections, bond financing, and other related data.
  • Assists in maintaining process and procedure documentation surrounding all recurring transactions within MHMC and PMF. If there is no existing procedure documentation, the Senior Accountant II will create it and bring to the Director of Accounting and Controller for review and approval.
  • Prepares grants applications ensures reporting requirements are met as it relates to all grantors and outside agencies that require such reporting.
  • Works directly with outside consultants and third parties to ensure maximum reimbursement is achieved, when applicable.
  • Recommends process improvements needed to ensure accurate financial reporting and executes best practices with Senior Accountants and Staff as necessary.
  • Reviews journal entries posted by Staff and Senior Accountants as directed.
  • Assists with the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory reports as needed.
  • Prepares financial reporting documents for MHMC based on requirements detailed in loan documents and waivers as appropriate, with minimal supervision
  • Prepares financial reporting documents for MGH as requested based on knowledge of GAAP accounting and audited financial statement presentation.
  • Assists with preparation of Audit work papers, including any Single Audit documentation required.
  • Assists in annual budgeting process.
  • Assists in joint ventures and consolidations.
  • Assist in supervising staff accountants on an as needed basis.
  • Designs and prepares Ad hoc reports as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
