The Senior Accountant II (SA II) will be primarily responsible for general ledger ownership including, verifying, allocating, preparing and posting journal entries,and reconciling accounts payable, receivable, revenue, and balance sheet accounts. The SA II plays a key role in leading and supporting the monthly close process, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with GAAP. This role also includes mentoring staff and identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls while supporting the Controller and/or CFO. Reportability This position will report directly to the Controller. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reconcile balance sheet (statement of position) and income statement (statement of activities) accounts, analyzing for completeness and appropriateness of recorded transactions. Prepare routine and closing journal entries, and review those prepared by other staff members and accountant(s) as requested by the Controller. Assist with managing and supervising general ledger accountant. Serve as primary Sage Intacct power user: maintained dimensional chart of accounts, execute and review JE/AP imports, and supported workflow approvals. Develop dashboards, reporting and provide guidance to accounting and finance staff on best practices. Review and post invoices and cash receipts to general ledger. Prepare monthly P&L and budget -to - actual variance analysis and management reports. Assist the Controller with responding to all levels of management's inquiries on budget, forecasts, and financial statements. Developed financial models to evaluate operational scenarios (volume sensitivity, staffing assumptions, cost structure impacts) and presented insights to finance leadership. Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls to enhance efficient and accurate accountability of Mary's Center's finances. Support month-end and year-end close processes. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
