About The Position

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant I is responsible for the general accounting and treasury operations of the organization. They are responsible for ensuring that the MSH books are closed and reconciled accurately and timely, monthly, quarterly, and annually; that MSH books are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, the organization’s Cost Accounting Standards, Federal and other contractual requirements, and internal policies and procedures. They support MSH external audit activities worldwide. Treasury responsibilities include effectively monitoring the cash flow of MSH on a daily basis in line with US and International Banking Regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience.
  • Excellent communicator with strong, compelling writing skills.
  • Ability to work in an office environment; ability to travel to and work in countries in which MSH operates (10%).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions of the organization, including, but not limited to: Preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries and cash receipt entries
  • Working with field offices (FOs) to provide support of the monthly close
  • Reconciling various general ledger accounts for HQ and FOs
  • Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financials
  • Ensure proper invoicing and revenue recognition
  • Support the annual external audit, as well as other audits and compliance audits
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements, annual report, Form 990, and other compliance related activities
  • Support the day-to-day cash management of the organization, including, but not limited to: Assess cash needs for the organization
  • Fund all MSH accounts and field offices as needed
  • Provide support for cash receipts and disbursement entries
  • Support all bank account maintenance globally
  • Manage and reconcile MSH’s letters of credit with banks and donors ensuring compliance with donor requirements
  • Ensures collaboration and coordination of the function with other departments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
