This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. Drive financial integrity and regulatory compliance for government contracts through expert application of GAAP, CAS, and FAR/DFARS regulations. This key role safeguards our financial systems while ensuring full compliance with government contracting requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with significant visibility across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years accounting experience (3+ in government contracts)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and FAR/DFARS
  • Strong financial controls experience and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification
  • 5+ years government contract accounting experience
  • DCAA audit and CAS expertise
  • Experience with disclosure statements and indirect rate structures
  • Risk assessment and financial controls design experience

Responsibilities

  • Financial Compliance & Controls Design, implement, test, and enhance controls across financial operations
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure regulatory adherence
  • Support business systems adequacy (Accounting, Estimating, Purchasing, MMAS, Property)
  • Government Contract Expertise Manage CAS requirements, disclosure statements, and indirect cost submissions
  • Ensure proper cost segregation and treatment
  • Support government and other external audits
  • Process & Documentation Management Develop accounting policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
  • Create SOPs and control matrices for consistent application
  • Deliver compliance reports and maintain comprehensive audit records
  • Support compliance training initiatives
  • Incurred Cost and Forward Pricing Management Perform rate monitoring, rate submittal, and incurred cost submissions
  • Develop proformas, rate impact models, and provide strategic direction for optimization of rate methodologies.
