About The Position

As a Senior Accountant at Risk Strategies, you will play a crucial role in corporate accounting by preparing and analyzing monthly revenue reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. You will manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation, and assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Additionally, you will support audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries while collaborating with Finance leadership to improve reporting processes and internal controls. In the client-facing governmental accounting support role, you will provide accounting guidance and support to public sector clients, particularly in areas related to employee benefits funding and reporting. You will assist clients with compliance related to GASB standards and other applicable governmental regulations, help interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders within client organizations, and participate in client meetings and presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CGFO preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to both corporate and governmental environments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; familiarity with GASB a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with public sector entities (e.g., municipalities, school districts, or state agencies).
  • Prior work in an insurance brokerage or employee benefits environment.
  • Knowledge of Florida governmental accounting practices.
