About The Position

Central Piedmont is looking to hire a Sr Accountant that serves as a partner in advancing the Foundation's mission by ensuring financial integrity and fostering a culture of innovation across all stakeholders. This role not only safeguards accurate accounting records, prepares financial reports, and provides a strong level financial analysis, but also provides clear, insightful communication that empowers colleagues, leadership, and donors to make informed decisions. We are seeking a leader who balances their financial expertise with the ability to build strong relationships across teams. Accounting and reconciliation functions for the financial activities and reporting for the Central Piedmont Community College Foundation. Serves as the primary accountant for the Foundation and prepares financial reports and reconciliations with the assistance of other Foundation staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with a concentration in Finance or Accounting paired with three - five years of increasingly responsible work experience as an accountant in financial management
  • In-depth knowledge of general accounting and fund accounting principles under FASB
  • Ability to apply accounting knowledge in work assignments
  • Ability to produce accurate financial statements and reports
  • Knowledge of internal control practices
  • Knowledge of budgeting and purchasing principles and practices
  • Understanding of investment strategies and investment management
  • Thorough knowledge of IRS regulations and laws applicable to tax-exempt and non-profit organizations
  • Ability to develop financial projections and budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with either Microsoft Office or Google Suite environments

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or CPA
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, marketable securities and investment fund accounting

Responsibilities

  • Prepares reconciliations of assets accounts, revenues, donations and disbursements; prepares financial reports and assists with ensuring proper reporting and compliance laws, regulations and accepted accounting standards.
  • May assist with disbursements in accordance with fund restrictions, donor's instructions and Foundations objectives.
  • Prepares periodic financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the reporting of securities, cash position and investments; performs due diligence to safeguard and improve the Foundation's internal controls.
  • Assists with preparation of schedules to complete annual audit and tax return filing; ensures Foundation's accounting practices are in compliance with tax laws, IRS regulations and accepted accounting standards.
  • Assists in preparation of monitoring of the Foundation's annual budget.
  • Works closely with the Foundation staff to administer scholarships, fellowships and other financial awards; develops policies and strategies for effectiveness and efficiency and address deficiencies or problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
