About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for General Ledger account reconciliations and monthly journal entry preparations. Ensures compliance with Hertz policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Assist in driving continuous process and procedural improvements. We expect the starting salary to be around $60,000; the actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of Accounting Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA eligible preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and/or approve assigned general ledger accounts of highest-level complexity (with corresponding evidential support)
  • Assist in facilitation and completion monthly close procedures
  • Provide quarter end and year end reporting deliverables to tax and financial reporting teams
  • Complete SOX 404 controls related to critical accounting processes
  • Analyze accounts to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis and proper accounting procedures have been followed
  • Ensure all necessary journal entries (including accruals) to ensure expenses and income are properly recorded in the correct accounting period.
  • Investigate and report to the manager any inconsistencies or improprieties.
  • Prepare financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested
  • Train new employees and ensure training material/documentation is kept current
  • Projects as assigned by Management.
  • Work with both external and internal audit teams as needed
  • Maintains a ‘Best practice sharing culture’, always striving to find ways to improve service and change mind set.
