The Financial Reporting team is responsible for Ventas’ external financial reporting, including SEC filings, earnings releases, and statutory reporting, while partnering closely with Accounting, Tax, Legal, Treasury, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting supports the day‑to-day operations of the Financial Reporting team, with a primary focus on the preparation, review, and tie‑out of Ventas’ external financial statements and related disclosures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent SEC and private financial reporting, while collaborating across functions and supporting audit and special project needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of financial reporting experience, either within a publicly traded company or in public accounting supporting publicly traded clients
  • Must be located in the Chicago, IL surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.
  • Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with Workiva strongly preferred; experience with Longview and/or Yardi a plus
  • Prior exposure to public company, SEC reporting, real estate, or REIT environments preferred
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Roll forward, populate, and review Forms 10‑Q, earnings releases, and Form 10‑K filings using Workiva
  • Prepare and review financial statement sections of the supplemental report in Excel
  • Roll forward, populate, and review annual private financial statements within Workiva for statutory and joint venture reporting
  • Partner with Accounting, Tax, Legal, Treasury, Corporate Finance, and other teams to obtain and validate supporting documentation
  • Tie out financial statements and provide detailed support to external auditors during audits and reviews
  • Respond to auditor questions and ensure timely resolution of tie‑out items
  • Ensure consistency across SEC filings, earnings releases, and supplemental reporting
  • Support special projects and ad‑hoc reporting initiatives as needed
