The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of accounting assignments, recording and reporting financial transactions and executing Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements. This role involves producing accurate and timely financial statements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial records, assisting with forecasting and planning, and supporting the business in meeting customer needs. The position also requires continual assessment and recommendations for improving efficiency and effectiveness of processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills in evaluating data and the ability to exercise judgment in a variety of areas.
  • Demonstrated successful use of technology to improve process efficiency.
  • Effective teambuilding and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Commitment to highest standards of quality and integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Regulatory/utility/FERC/SEC reporting or energy industry experience.
  • Understanding of the use and implementation of analytical tools and artificial intelligence to improve processes and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, including analysis for use in internal and external reporting.
  • Engage and collaborate with cross-functional business partners to identify and resolve accounting issues proactively.
  • Analyze current processes and procedures and leverage new technologies to recommend and drive improvements.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors to support required audits and regulatory processes.
