The Travel Information Council (TIC) invites you to join our team as a Senior Accountant, where your skills will be essential in supporting Oregon travelers and communities. TIC is a semi-independent state agency with a mission to provide safe and welcoming rest areas, helpful highway signage, and informative historical markers. Our work impacts millions of travelers annually, ensuring they have the resources and safety they need on Oregon’s highways. As a Senior Accountant, you’ll play a vital part in the agency’s finance team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and data integrity.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate AND three years of accounting experience equivalent to Accountant 2 work.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours from an accredited institution in Accounting AND three years of related accounting experience equivalent to Accountant 2 work.
  • 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours from an accredited institution in Accounting AND five years of related accounting experience.
  • 15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level accounting credit hours may substitute for one year of the accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting (including various basis of accounting used: accrual, modified accrual, fund).
  • Experience with restricted funds.
  • Skill in analyzing accounting information and systems to prevent, detect, and correct errors.
  • Experience preparing financial reports including balance sheet, income statement and other specialized reports.
  • Skill in developing, modifying, and implementing accounting systems and policies as well as recommending accounting controls and improvements to business practices.
  • Experience preparing monthly and year end adjusting entries and reviewing accounting transactions to ensure conformance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP B1 accounting software.
  • Public accounting experience providing assurance services to governmental entities.

Responsibilities

  • Leading complex accounting tasks and overseeing compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Preparing financial reports, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Designing, modifying, and implementing accounting systems and policies.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of agency financial transactions and preparing monthly reports.
  • Collaborating on annual financial reviews and process improvements.
