About The Position

Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) has been providing high-quality wastewater treatment services to the Upstate of South Carolina since 1925. The organization is dedicated to promoting a cleaner environment, protecting public health, and maintaining the water quality of Upstate waterways, while also developing essential sewer infrastructure to support community growth. ReWa operates nine water resource recovery facilities and manages over 350 miles of pipe, serving Greenville County and parts of Anderson, Laurens, Pickens, and Spartanburg Counties. Approximately 42 million gallons of water are processed daily before being returned to local rivers and streams. The ReWa headquarters is located in Greenville, S.C., a city recognized for its high quality of life, situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with access to rivers, beaches, and mountains. The Senior Account position is crucial for managing the financial health and reporting of this vital public service agency, contributing to its operational efficiency and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Requires minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Requires strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Must be proficient in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Must be proficient understanding of GAAP and GASP.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Must be highly skilled in Microsoft excel and word.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and maintains an advanced understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and professional development.
  • Reconciles and reviews various accounts by identifying posting errors or omissions by applying the appropriate accounting standards.
  • Prepares a variety of monthly, periodic, and annual financial and statistical reports.
  • Monitors investment rates and records investments with financial institutions, maintains and reconciles investment activity.
  • Serves as a liaison between the agency and the billing entities and ensures the accuracy of our billing.
  • Creates, maintains, and inputs journal entries.
  • Monitors bank balances and ensures adequate cash flow.
  • Responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
  • Maintains the accounting department’s dashboard.
  • Coordinates and supports both internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and financial data.
  • Assists in the preparation of the financial statements and notes.
  • Assists with the preparation and distribution of the ACFR.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, tests, and assists in the implementation of workday process improvements, modules and upgrades, as needed.
  • Manages the agency’s insurance claims and policy renewals.
  • Ensures internal accounting process and procedures are adhered to.
  • Reviews and updates procedures annually and develops procedures when needed.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements including technological advancements.
  • Assists with the development of the annual budget and provides variance analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitors budget performance and provides regular updates and support to department leaders.
  • Supports long-term financial planning and forecasting activities.
  • Works on special projects, as needed.
  • Attends conferences, meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.
