We are seeking a driven, high-energy individual who is passionate about new business acquisition and public sector sales. As a Senior Account Executive, SLED, you will be responsible for executing a strategic sales plan within your assigned territory, focusing on revenue growth and new customer acquisition across State, Local, and Educational (SLED) organizations.

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan targeting key SLED agencies and educational institutions nationwide.
  • Become an expert in our product offerings and public sector solutions, delivering compelling demos, presentations, and proposals that clearly articulate the power of Neo4j’s Graph Intelligence solutions
  • Leverage deep knowledge of public procurement processes, budgeting cycles, and agency-specific requirements to position our solutions as the best fit for their needs, highlighting the advantages over competing technologies and approaches.
  • Lead complex sales cycles with a solution-based approach, employing strategic selling strategies and tactics to grow accounts within government and educational entities.
  • Manage the full sales process from prospecting to closing, consistently securing new logos and expanding within existing public sector accounts.
  • Collaborate with and leverage channel partners and partner resources to initiate and accelerate deal cycles.
  • Develop strong partnerships with public cloud providers (AWS, Google, Microsoft Azure) and leverage these relationships and relevant contracting vehicles (e.g., state contracts, GSA) to drive growth opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Business Development Representatives (BDRs) and Field Marketing resources to align on target SLED accounts and support pipeline development.
  • 7+ years of proven success in enterprise software sales with a consistent track record of exceeding targets.
  • 5+ years of direct experience selling complex software or technical solutions into the State, Local, or Education (SLED) markets.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex sales processes within public sector domains such as Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Data Science, AI/ML, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully selling through partner channels.
  • Proven ability to independently develop and close new client relationships while effectively managing long-term business engagements with public sector stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of state and local government processes, organizational structures, legislative timelines, and budgeting cycles is required.
  • Deep understanding of commercial open-source business models, including selling on-premise and cloud & SaaS hybrid solutions, with an awareness of security and compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, state-specific requirements).
  • Strong presentation, communication, and organizational skills and ability to build strong business champions across diverse agencies and departments.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies such as MEDDIC, SPIN, or Challenger Sales, and experience working in a fast-paced, competitive market.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver on customer expectations, including Pre-Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Field Engineering resources.
  • Established relationships with key contacts and decision-makers within your assigned SLED territory.
  • Experience selling database-as-a-service products
  • Knowledge of graph technology, data management tools, or other advanced data-driven technologies.
