About The Position

Joining the talented Finance team at #TeamIZEA, the Sr. Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. Your primary focus will be on preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end close activities. You will have strong attention to details and a solid understanding of GAAP, as you'll be responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting and identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing).
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and the ability to apply it confidently in day-to-day work.
  • Excellent technical research skills and a solid foundation in accounting principles.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Sharp analytical thinker with a knack for solving problems and spotting trends.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate classification and recording of revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations to management.
  • Assist in preparing internal financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including providing schedules and explanations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with AP, AR, Payroll, and FinOps to ensure proper coding and completeness of transactions.
  • Review and maintain accruals, deferrals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc financial projects, reports, and analysis as requested by management.
