About The Position

The Senior Accessibility & QA Automation Test Engineer, is a hands-on test engineer responsible for ensuring enterprise-scale digital systems are functionally correct, usable, secure, performant, and fully accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. The Senior Accessibility & QA Automation Test Engineer operates independently, influences technical decisions, and raises the overall accessibility and quality maturity of Agile teams. Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent combination of education and experience (an additional 4 years of experience may substitute)
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or SDET roles
  • Active DHS Trusted Tester Certification
  • Demonstrated experience performing manual and automated testing of web-based applications
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools such as NeoLoad or JMeter
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 concepts
  • Hands-on experience using accessibility testing tools, including axe, pa11y, ANDI, Color Contrast Analyzer, JAWS, and NVDA
  • Demonstrated experience performing manual accessibility testing using assistive technologies and screen readers
  • Experience working within CI/CD pipelines and automated testing environments
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum or SAFe-based delivery environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams

  • Experience supporting large-scale, cloud-based, microservices-oriented systems
  • Experience producing accessibility testing documentation, summaries, or conformance evidence
  • Experience collaborating closely with UX and design system teams to validate accessible components and patterns

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual and automated functional testing of application code, APIs, and integrated services
  • Execute non-functional testing, including performance and load testing, to validate system stability and capacity
  • Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Validate conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA requirements and applicable federal accessibility standards
  • Perform screen reader and keyboard-only testing using JAWS and NVDA
  • Execute automated accessibility scans using tools such as axe, pa11y, and ANDI, and validate results through manual testing
  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned with user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Integrate functional and accessibility tests into established CI/CD pipelines
  • Ensure test results are documented, version-controlled, and reported through approved tools
  • Clearly document defects, risks, and remediation guidance in issue-tracking systems
  • Collaborate closely with developers, UX designers, product owners, and accessibility leads to resolve issues efficiently
  • Participate fully in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Proactively identify quality and accessibility risks and raise them early to support timely remediation
